چکیده

Purpose This paper aims to discuss the classification of targets based on their radar cross-section (RCS). The wavelength, dimensions and distance from antenna are in order 1 mm, m 10 m, respectively. Design/methodology/approach near-field RCS is considered, physical optics approximation used for its numerical calculation. To model real scenarios, authors assume that incident angle a random variable within narrow interval, repeated observations made realizations. Then, histogram calculated samples. use nearest neighbor rule classify conducting plates with different shapes histogram. Findings setup considered as simple traffic road sign by millimeter-wavelength radar. performance limitations algorithm demonstrated through set representative examples. Originality/value proposed method extends existing tools using histograms target features achieve algorithm.

A Radar Cross-Section Model for Power Lines at Millimeter-Wave Frequencies

The knowledge of radar backscatter characteristics of high-voltage power lines is of great importance in the development of a millimeter-wave wire detection system. In this paper, a very high-frequency technique based on an iterative physical optics approach is developed for predicting polarimetric radar backscattering behavior of power lines of arbitrary strand arrangement. In the proposed sca...

Terahertz Imaging, Millimeter-wave Radar

The millimeter wave (MMW) band of frequencies extends from 30 GHz to 300 GHz, with some fuzziness on both ends of this spectrum. The terahertz (THz) band extends from about 200 GHz to about 30 THz, despite the fact that the lower frequencies in this range are not strictly 10 Hz or higher. These bands are also variously called submillimeter, far-infrared, and near-millimeter. In recent years, th...

Estimation of Radar Cross Section of a Target under Track

In allocating radar beam for tracking a target, it is attempted to maintain the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of signal returning from the illuminated target close to an optimum value for efficient track updates. An estimate of the average radar cross section (RCS) of the target is required in order to adjust transmitted power based on the estimate such that a desired SNR can be realized. In this...

A method of improving SCR for millimeter wave FM-CW radar without knowledge of target and clutter statistics

This paper proposes a new method for improving Signal-to-Clutter Ratio (SCR) for millimeter wave Frequency-Modulated-Continuous-Wave (FM-CW) radar. Received echoes of FM-CW radar can be categorized into two types due to either a target or clutter. Generally, the target received data have a stronger correlation with respect to different carrier frequencies than that of the clutter received data....

General Linear Chirplet Transform and Radar Target Classification

In this paper, we design an attractivealgorithm aiming to classify moving targets includinghuman, animal, vehicle and drone, at groundsurveillance radar systems. The non-stationary reflectedsignal of the targets is represented with a novelmathematical framework based on behavior of thesignal components in reality. We further propose usingthe generalized linear chirp transform for the analysisst...
